Female Athlete Injuries

Females are at higher risk than males for certain athletic injuries.  These include ACL tears, stress fractures, and patellofemoral disorders.  Some of the increased risk is unavoidable based on physiologic factors out of one’s control.  However, some of these increased risks can be modified.  One example is that neuromuscular training can decrease the likelihood of an ACL tear, especially in a female athlete.
